The Harvard Street construction project conducted by National Grid is constantly being monitored by the Medford Police. In an effort to control traffic and produce a safe environment with the multitude of projects, the Chief of Police has opted to close Harvard Street while National Grid completes the work. The closures will take place Monday thru Friday at 9AM. The street will open before 3PM. This will allow Harvard Street to be open for two way traffic each morning and afternoon during the traffic rush. After a three day trial period, Chief Buckley has decided this option is the safest and most effective means of allowing the project to be completed in a timely manner. Residents will be provided access to their homes. If construction does not allow for such access police officers will direct residents to a convenient option. Deliveries and home services will be allowed access when practical. Please notify your service of the construction and have the driver speak with a police officer to gain the safest access. This project is necessary to provide updates to the Gas Main services. We understand the impact these road closures have on residents and commuters and will continue to monitor all projects in South Medford and make adjustments to control traffic when needed. The Chief will also be monitoring traffic at Harvard St. and Willis Ave and will begin to make adjustments to the traffic flow on Willis Ave this coming week. With your input, we can address problems as they occur. While we cannot make traffic go away, we can do our best to control the impact it has on our community. Thank-you to all residents of South Medford for their vigilance and patience
