Construction crews will grind the area of Woburn Street between High St. and Wyman St. during the day tomorrow, Tuesday September 29th. This is a necessary step before the paving process begins. There will be no parking on either side of Woburn St. during the day tomorrow in this work area. As always, we appreciate your patience and cooperation.
Work continues on Grove Street
Construction crews will begin the Grinding Process on Grove Street during the day on Monday (September 28th) and Tuesday (September 29th) starting at 7AM. Expect delays in the area. We appreciate your patience.
Pancreatic Cancer 5K Run/Walk
This Saturday, September 26th there will a Pancreatic Cancer 5K Run and Walk here in Medford. All proceeds will benefit Pancreatic Cancer Research.
Please be advised there will be traffic disruptions from approximately 9AM until approximately 1PM. The Run/Walk will travel from the American Legion Hall on Winthrop St. northerly onto Main St in Winchester, where it will turn around and return over the same route back to the American Legion on Winthrop St. During the race, portions of Winthrop Street will be closed to vehicular traffic.
Northbound traffic will be diverted at the Winthrop Rotary onto High St. Southbound traffic will be diverted onto Playstead Rd. Traffic exiting Medford High School will be directed northerly toward Playstead Rd.
There will be no access to Winthrop St. from any side streets along the route except Playstead Rd.
We will restore traffic to its normal pattern as soon as it is safe to do so. We ask that you please plan accordingly. We appreciate your patience and cooperation.
Saturday Events including the National Drug Takeback Initiative
On Saturday, September 26th, a number of events have been scheduled in the City of Medford. Medford’s National Drug Take Back Initiative will be held at the Medford City Hall rear parking lot from 10AM to 2PM. Residents will be able to turn in any unused or expired medication for safe disposal. This includes any pills, tablets, capsules, cough medicines, and any other medications. This service is free and anonymous for our residents.
Also beginning at 10AM, the Granara/Skerry Pancreatic Cancer 5K Walk and Run will begin at the American Legion, Post 45, at 321 Winthrop St.
From noon to 4PM, the Mystic River Festival will be held at the Condon Shell. Thank-you
Medford’s 385th Birthday Parade
Follow the Red, White and Blue to Medford’s 385th Birthday Parade this Sunday, September 27th at 2PM. The Parade will start off from Medford High School and proceed down Winthrop Street, on to High Street, on to Riverside Avenue, and disband at Medford City Hall. The parade will be led by the Grand Marshalls and the Medford Clergy Association. It will feature Five Divisions, 19 Bands, the Medford High School Band & Cheerleaders, Minuteman Groups, the Mass Maritime Band, Medford Rec Hockey, Medford Schools, Candidates for Mayor, City Council and School Committee, the Girl Scouts, the Boy Scouts, the Medford Bicycle Commission, the Bangledesh Association of New England, Medford Girls Youth Softball, the Tibetan Association of Boston, and Tufts University to name a few. The Aleppo Temple Shriners will comprise an entire division with marching bands, clowns and floats. We hope you, your friends, family and neighbors can join us. Thank-you.
