Junior Police Academy

We are proud to announce that our inaugural Junior Police Academy (JPA) successfully ran from July 14 to July 18, 2025! This dynamic and hands-on program brought together a group of outstanding Medford students entering 6th, 7th, and 8th grade, who participated in a full week of immersive training, learning, and team-building.

Throughout the week, cadets experienced a variety of engaging activities, including:

  • Physical training and morning drills
  • Interactive classes on police procedures and public safety
  • Crime scene investigation workshops
  • K9 and SWAT demonstrations
  • Traffic stops and motor vehicle law scenarios
  • Team challenges and leadership exercises
  • Daily reflections and guest speaker sessions
  • A graduation ceremony attended by family, friends, and members of the department

Medford Police Officers served as instructors and mentors, guiding cadets through each day’s schedule with enthusiasm, professionalism, and support.

This year we will be offering TWO weeks.
– Week 1: July 13-17, 2026
– Week 2: July 20-24, 2026

Update 4/13/26: Registration for the 2026 Junior Police Academy is now closed. Both weeks have wait lists at this time. For those that did register, an email will be sent shortly with further instruction.

We are still looking for high school-aged counselors to help assist with the program. This is a great opportunity to earn community service hours while mentoring younger students.

Thank you to everyone for their enthusiastic support of this program!
