Medford Police Make Arrest in Animal Cruelty Case

At approximately 11 a.m. on Sunday, March 24, 2024, officers responded to the area of Fellsway West and Sheridan Ave for a report of animal cruelty involving a man who was walking a group of dogs. According to witnesses, the man struck one of the dogs multiple times in the head and then lifted the dog off the ground by its collar in a harmful manner. One witness provided video evidence to the officers, allowing them to identify the suspect. The officers then responded to the suspect’s home, where he was taken into custody.

Frederick Ingrando, 33, of Medford, was arrested and charged with Animal Cruelty.

The dogs, which were not owned by Mr. Ingrando but were under his care as a dog-walker, have been safely removed and are waiting to be picked up by their owners. A dog that was struck during the incident was transported to a nearby veterinarian for evaluation and was later released.

Mr. Ingrando is expected to be arraigned on Monday, March 25, 2024 at Somerville District Court.
