Position Overview:
The Medford Police Department is seeking motivated and qualified individuals to join our team as Police Officers. The ideal candidates will be dedicated to public service and will possess strong problem-solving skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to community engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Patrol assigned areas to deter and detect criminal activity.
- Respond to emergency calls and assist in emergency situations.
- Conduct investigations and gather evidence related to criminal offenses.
- Enforce laws and regulations, issue citations, and make arrests as necessary.
- Prepare and maintain accurate reports and documentation of incidents and investigations.
- Engage with community members to foster positive relationships and promote public safety.
- Collaborate with other law enforcement agencies and community organizations.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license
- At least 21 years old, no maximum age
- Must pass the written civil service exam, physical abilities test (PAT), background investigation and medical and psychological evaluations
- Must be able to qualify for a MA License to Carry a Firearm

The first step to becoming a Medford Police Officer is to take the Massachusetts Civil Service Exam. The application period is open now through January 28, 2025. The exam schedule will begin in March 2025.
