Here are some considerations when deciding to call the police or fire. These considerations do not represent a comprehensive list of when or when not to call 911, instead they are a few suggestions to guide you in calling 911:
- All medical emergencies should be called into 911
- If you are in doubt as to the emergency status of an incident call 911 (better safe than sorry)
- All crimes in progress (personal injury or damage to property) requiring police intervention – call 911
- All personal injuries or dangerous situations involving motor vehicle accidents – call 911
