This morning, the Medford Police Department executed an arrest warrant at 278 Powder House Boulevard in Somerville where they took Nature Moncoeur, age 18, into custody. Mr. Moncoeur is being charged with Assault and Battery and Attempted Kidnapping after an assault of a female that took place on Royall Street in Medford on Sunday, July 3, 2023, at approximately 10:45pm. Our officers conducted a week-long investigation that involved tireless efforts to identify the party responsible for the incident. We would like to thank the Tufts Police Department, especially Sergeant Jessica Bruno, the Somerville Police Department and the Somerville Housing Police Department for their assistance on this case. Mr. Moncoeur is scheduled to be arraigned today at Somerville District Court.

Medford Police Department is investigating a report that a Medford woman in her 20s was physically assaulted in the area of Main Street and Royall Street while out on an evening walk around 10:45pm on Sunday, July 2, 2023. The woman noticed the male suspect first near the intersection of Boston Avenue and College Avenue and realized he was following her. When she made it to the end of Royall Street at Main Street, the man ran up to her, grabbed her and struck her several times. After a brief struggle in which the woman was fighting back and screaming loudly, the suspect fled back down Royall Street toward College Avenue. The woman suffered apparent minor injuries and was transported to the hospital by Armstrong Ambulance.
