SafeWatch Program - Medford Massachusetts Police Department
Caregivers are encouraged to fill out a SafeWatch Medical Alert Form that includes the name and physical description of the person who they are concerned might wander off. They are urged to send a photo so responding officers know exactly what the individual looks like. The information is stored in a departmental database which allows officers to review critical information from their cruiser laptop if there is a disappearance. The information includes a summary such as name, nickname, age, address, height, weight, eye color, hair color, identifying marks, medical conditions, favorite places and how to effectively approach or calm the person. Family members, friends or caregivers can complete the SafeWatch form either electronically through this form submission or by printing a copy and returning it to the police station so that the most accurate information is available. This is a free, voluntary, and confidential program that is designed to better equip emergency personnel when responding to a crisis situation. The information is not for general release.
