Meet Sergeant Chris Covino
Sergeant Christopher Covino has been serving in the Medford Police Department for the past six years. Prior to joining the police force, he attended Massachusetts Maritime Academy and worked part-time as a security personnel at Massachusetts General Hospital. Additionally, he worked as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and also served in the U.S. Navy Reserve. Being a police officer was always his dream and he has always held a high standard of discipline and moral principles, which he imbibed during his service in the military and while attending Mass Maritime. The Medford Police Department’s ideals of discipline and moral principles motivated him to take up the challenge and pursue a career that constantly challenges him and allows him to educate himself.
Sergeant Covino said, “The residents of Medford deserve the most highly trained and well-educated officers. As police officers, we are continually educating ourselves to keep up with the fluid world of policing. By doing so we are able to better serve the community. I grew up in, and attended school in Medford. I always felt a desire to give back to the community in which I was raised and being a police officer allows me to do that. While policing a diverse community like Medford, I am given the unique opportunity to interact with community members who come from all walks of life and cultural backgrounds. These interactions are opportunities to further my knowledge of the community in which I am privileged to serve. Nobody will ever say this job is “easy”. I’ve always sought out challenges in life because I know that through the most difficult challenges comes great reward.”
